It was a cloudy Wednesday morning and we were walking onto the stage ready to destroy the Turanganui Kapa Haka Festival. I had 100 butterflies in my stomach, "The first song, we can do this" I thought to myself, "Tu mai raaa" Hunter starts wail few songs later and the boys start the song we've been waiting for... The haka...
"KAMO!" "HIIII!"We all shout the start to song that determines the whole kapa haka. We finish the Haka, in relief, the crowd gives us a round of applause. king up to the front of the stage slowly. Then everyone else starts following the first song begun we finish the song with pride. the next song begins and we begin with the best start to kapa haka ever. We start our last song of the kapa haka, He Honore. Once we finished the song and walked off the stage I felt so relieved to get the kapa haka off my chest.
I think we did really well, besides the haka, it was good but, too fast. I was waiting in the line for our bus to arrive and thinking, "did I do good? could've I done better? was I too fast?" I was so paranoid if I had done good or not. But I decided to just forget about it and chillax. Once the bus arrived we were all happy to get it over and done with it.
For most of the time before we started I was so concerned on how it was going to go, but, when we started singing, it was fun. All the butterflies in my stomach just got swatted as soon as Tu mai ra finished. I knew it was going to go well, and it did! Though, maybe we went too fast on the Haka.
But besides that, it. Was. Awesome.
